"RealThinClient" was founded in November 2004, when development on the "RealThinClient Core" has started.
After about six months of development and testing, the first ever "RealThinClient Core" version was released in May 2005 and later renamed to "RealThinClient SDK" (short: "RTC SDK"). As "RealThinClient SDK" was actively developed and improved over the years, it has grown into a very robust, flexible and feature-rich component set for writing Internet-ready Applications, now actively used by hundreds of Delphi and C++ Builder developers World-wide.
With positive development of the "RealThinClient SDK" and the company alltogether, we have decided to move on to the next step and start working on a new component set for Remote Customer Support, which would implement Remote Desktop View/Control, File Transfer and Chat by using the RealThinClient SDK for communication, allowing data to pass through firewalls and proxy servers, without having to reconfigure anything.
After months of research, development and testing, the first public "RTC Portal" version was released in July 2007. In its initial release, "RTC Portal" was actually a set of Projects with Forms and DataModules in Delphi, using the "RealThinClient SDK" for communication. Then, in December 2007, the "RTC Portal VCL" was born by moving all the required code from Delphi Forms and DataModules into components which would install into the Delphi component palette, now allowing developers to simply drop them on their own Forms and DataModules to compile any "RTC Portal" functionality into their own Applications. During that conversion process, all "RTC Portal" projects have also been updated to use the new components instead of directly using the RTC SDK. With the "RTC Portal VCL" being actively developed and supported, it has grown into the most widely used solution for remote customer support by Delphi developers, today in use by hundreds of software development companies World-wide.
While the "RealThinClient SDK" and "RTC Portal VCL" continue being actively developed and supported, we have been preparing a new Framework which would allow developers to rapidly build Rich Internet Applications (RIA) with Delphi. This new Framework was being developed under the code name "RTC WAF" (RealThinClient Web Applications Framework) and has become an integral part of the "RealThinClient SDK" in November 2008. In order to make full use of RTC WAF, the next component set on our list is "RTC WAC" (RealThinClient Web Application Components), providing visual and non-visual components for use with RTC WAF (included in the RTC SDK). RTC WAC is currently in beta, with plans for public release in Q3/Q4 2009.
